Match between Hougang United and Balestier Khalsa was played on 5 April (Sun) at Toa Payoh Stadium
The visitors Hougang United(Cheetahs) under 21s played well in Great Eastern-YEO’S Prime League to beat Balestier Khalsa(Tigers) under 21s 2-0 at opponent’s home ground in Toa Payoh, maintaining their winning streak and staying at the top of the table.
In less 10 minutes into the match, both teams were awarded free kick through penalties. However, both teams were unable to convert the opportunity into a goal.
Hougang United player K.Selvendhran’s (25) scored the first goal of the match at the 35th minute mark, ensuring that the Cheetahs were leading the first-half match.
The second half of the match saw the Tigers piling on the pressure to make a comeback. However, for the whole second half, mostly were the Cheetahs controlling the ball, and finally scored the second goal through player Ridhuan Shamsuddin (33) at the 60th minute.
For the last 15 minutes, the tigers had the opportunity to score, but the angle of the ball were just always in the way of the goalkeeper. To no avail, the tigers did not manage to score any goals.
Nevertheless, this match was unexpected, because of both teams’ past match good performance. They had never lose any matches so far in this year’s Prime League and the last time round both teams met was a nil draw.
