Dear Singa,
Thank you for your services as a courtesy ambassador of Singapore for the last 30 years. Thank you Singa for being a childhood icon for many Singaporeans and many people learnt well from your movement.
It truly saddens me to witness such drastic consequences born out of unfortunate social circumstances that gave too much stress to you. But, why give up so quickly, Courtesy Lion? SINGA should not quit.
Look at the positive side. There is an example to illustrate the successful part of your kindness campaign .
One day, I was walking down hill from SGH to Outram Park MRT station, I saw a wheelchair bounded uncle finding his strength to wheel himself up hill. Immediately a young man, who was original heading down but decide to help and push the uncle up the hill instead of continue his journey toward MRT station.
In my opinion, you have left a great impact on our Singapore kindness movement over the last generation. You did play an important role. Now, I am deeply concerned that your absence may leave a large void in our society, one that is too big for any individual to fill. I will remember with fondness your slogan and your smile. I am sure many people will miss you. I certainly will.
Meanwhile, enjoy your long break. Singa always belong to Singapore!
Your friend,
Yong Wei
