What started as a good deed by one man turned into a yelling match between two others, and it ended with one of them spitting at the other thrice.
The confrontation was filmed by Mr Istar Sulaiman on his mobile phone.
The 20-year-old national serviceman had given up his seat to an elderly man.
However, the elderly man insisted that the person seated next to Mr Istar give up his priority seat instead.
The man in the priority seat got offended and an argument ensued.
-The New Paper (May 28)
What a senseless argument they had. If you ask me who is in fault? I would say both men are in fault!
The young man has no respect for the elderly. Even thought it is not a rule to give up the seat, he should still respect the elderly's request and give up his seat. besides that, he could have been nicer to hurl less vulgarities at him and spare the spitting.
The old man should not make any racist remark or try to shame the young man. He also shouldn't judge all young ones. If the reserved seat is taken, can't the old man just take the seat given up by Mr Istar? Why do he have to insist on the reserved seat? Not only that he must remember to thank Mr Istar for his graciousness.
If both gave way to each other, wouldn't there be peace?
Singaporeans must really learn not to take certain privileges for granted and learn to appreciate others.
