Firstly, most teenagers nowadays do not know how to really appreciate the value of money. Why is this so? It is because they do not realise how much blood and sweat one have to put in to earn the money. If parents allow their children to work during the holidays, they will slowly realise the importance of money. They then think twice about spending their hard-earned money on unnecessary items. After all, allowing the children to work part-time during the school holidays is not a bad idea, as they are able to learn proper money management and cut down their parents’ expenses.
Secondly, having a part-time job will allow teenagers to obtain work experience, preparing for the real working life ahead of them through opportunities to learn to cope with conditions at working place. In addition, teenagers may be able to obtain new skills depending on the profession they are working as and managing stress from handling responsibilities and multi-tasking. These are skills which cannot be learn in the classroom.
Lastly, having a part-time job allows teenager to pass the time meaningfully during the holidays. Instead of mindlessly sitting in front of the computer screen or the television, youths taking part-time jobs are able to develop new skills such as those stated previously in the above mentioned.
In conclusion, I strongly feel that every parent should allow their children to work during the school holidays. It is the time when most of them idle around at home or in the streets. To fill up the void, they must carry out something useful like earning extra income for themselves to buy what they want, learn to work hard for every single cent that goes into their pockets and at the same time, gain work experience, for advantages to meet future job requirements. I believe it is only right for the students to be given the opportunity to work in their free time during the school holidays.
