Personally, I feel that the review process(by government) should have started earlier. It was only through many complaints on social media that led to LTA's investigation. Last year wasn't the first time SMRT faced such problem. The train operator, SMRT had already experienced many technical problem (regardless it was major or not) in the past.
Even though at certain time it might be a small fault, LTA's professional engineers should immediately step in to help out in investigation. Or else, a small fault might become a major one. Authorities may consider enforcing a law to have weekly inspection and maintenance.
Apart from that, all transport operator should not be a private company operating at its own cost. Both transport operators and LTA should in charge of maintaining the rail system.Perhaps, Transport Minister (Mr Lui Tuck Yew) can serve in the as one of operator's board members for guidance.
Finally,I would like to thanks Mr Lui for his admissions and response. I hope the improvement measures initiated will kick in sooner and restore the public's confidence in our rail system.
